Nicholas Stern

IG Patel Chair of Economics and Government, London School of Economics

Nicholas Stern is inspired by climate champions who have shown enormous personal integrity and, despite enormous challenges, just keep going. As the former Chief Economist of the World Bank, Stern provided intellectual leadership and direction to the Bank’s overall development strategy and economic research agenda. After his term was served, he wrote the Stern Review, a 700-page report condemning climate disruption as the widest-ranging market failure ever seen. He continues his work on the climate, currently serving as Chairman of the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment.

Stern also currently serves as IG Patel Professor of Economics and Government at the LSE and Economic Organisation and Public Policy Programme Associate at STICERD and Chair of the Asia Research Centre.
