Lauren Sommer

Science and Environment Reporter, KQED

Because [the California water bill] is a little bit of everything, it’s not going to solve all the problems we have here.

Lauren Sommer sees the dissuasion about California water being framed as a local issue, even when that water is coming from the other side of the state. As a science and environment reporter for KQED radio, Sommer specializes in water, energy and the environment. As part of her day job, she has scaled Sierra Nevada peaks, run from charging elephant seals and desperately tried to get her sea legs - all in pursuit of good radio.

Sommer has a degree from Cornell University and is originally from the Bay Area.
