Analena Hope Hassberg

Dr. Analena Hope Hassberg is a scholar, activist, educator and mother committed to organizing low-income communities of color around food justice and environmental justice. Dr. Hope is an Associate Professor of Ethnic and Women's Studies at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, a Ford Foundation Predoctoral and Dissertation Fellow, and an active member of several social justice organizations throughout Los Angeles County and the San Francisco Bay Area. Her research investigates and complicates notions of food security and food sovereignty, and situates food as central to Black freedom struggles and contemporary liberation movements.
