Byron Kominek is the owner and manager of Jack's Solar Garden in Boulder County, Colorado and the Executive Director of the Colorado Agrivoltaic Learning Center. He is a respected pioneer, advocate, and educator in the field of agrivoltaics combining solar energy production with land stewardship activities. Previously, Byron served as a diplomat with the US Agency for International Development managing climate mitigation and adaptation portfolios to protect and preserve forests and wildlife in Southern Africa. He currently serves on the Boulder County Planning Commission and on the Board of Visit Longmont as their Sustainability Member. Byron manages his family's farm where he grows berry, nut, and native shrubs and has tended flocks of sheep and waterfowl. He is passionate about civil society caring for our people and natural resources equally for their mutual benefit. Byron speaks French and Portuguese from his time in Africa, and through-hiked the Appalachian Trail among other adventures.
