Camila Flamiano Domonoske is a correspondent for NPR’s Business Desk, where she covers cars and energy. Her reporting has taken her to lithium mines, oil rigs, factory floors, picket lines and car shows. In addition to covering automaker earnings and the auto industry’s impact on the economy, she reports on the role of cars, trucks and SUVs in American life, and how policy changes and corporate decisions affect families’ day-to-day experiences. She is closely covering the global auto industry’s shift toward zero-emission vehicles, and the implications for companies, consumers and the climate.

She monitors the gyrations of global energy markets, explaining why price movements are happening and what it means for the world. She tracks the profits and investments of some of the world’s largest energy producers. As global urgency around climate change mounts, she has reported on how companies are — and are not — responding to calls for a rapid energy transition.

Before she joined the business desk, Domonoske was a general assignment reporter and a web producer. In those roles she covered everything from hurricanes to circuses, and wrote about language, race, history and literature. In a career highlight, she helped NPR win a pie-eating contest in the summer of 2018.

Domonoske graduated from Davidson College in North Carolina, where she majored in English, with a focus on modern poetry.
