Dr. Irène P. Mathieu is a writer and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Virginia, where she practices general pediatrics, teaches, and serves as Assistant Director of the Center for Health Humanities and Ethics. She is on the Journal of General Internal Medicine's editorial board and the Virginia Clinicians for Climate Action steering committee, and has received fellowships from Fulbright, Callaloo, and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. Irène is the author of three poetry collections - Grand Marronage, orogeny, and the galaxy of origins .
