James Macias

President and CEO, Fulcrum BioEnergy, Inc.

As the President and CEO of Fulcrum BioEnergy, James Macias has guided the company’s strategy, taking it from concept to execution and becoming one of the most successful new biofuels companies in the nation. When Macias founded Fulcrum BioEnergy with USRG, he relied upon his 30 plus years of energy industry operations experience, which included steering a 20,000-megawatt power plant development and construction program during his time as Executive Vice President at Calpine Corporation. While at PG&E, one of the largest investor-owned public utility companies in the nation, Jim oversaw operations for a 10,000-megawatt power generation fleet, $4 billion electric and gas transmission systems, and gas and electric procurement for more than four million customers.

Macias received his B.S. in mechanical engineering from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and graduated from the Harvard University Graduate School of Business Program for Management Development.
