Ken Cook

President, Environmental Working Group

Ken Cook believes that GMO labeling doesn't mean expensive food. As the President of the Environmental Working Group, Cook works to empower people to live healthier lives in a healthier environment through consumer choice and civic action. Under his leadership, the organization has pioneered the use of digital technologies to expose the harms done by ill-conceived crop subsidies, crop insurance and runaway agricultural pollution. Prior to EWG, Cook was the principal architect of landmark provisions of the 1985 farm bill.

Cook is a board member of Food Policy Action and Organic Voices and the Amazon Conservation Team. He earned a B.A. in history, B.S. in agriculture and M.S. in soil science at the University of Missouri-Columbia.
