Kristin Sverchek

General Counsel, Lyft

Kristin Sverchek is flexible in the face of legal roadblocks. As general counsel for Lyft, Svercheck and her small team handled the Bay Area company's expansion into almost 30 cities in 2014 alone. Unlike taxicabs and limousines, Lyft doesn’t see itself as a common carrier, their model being little more than connecting people who need a ride with a Lyft member willing to drive them. Since Lyft does not seek regulatory licensing traditionally required for such services, they have benefitted greatly from Sverchek's dynamic legal maneuvering.

Sverchek majored in Molecular and Cell Biology at UC Berkeley, graduating in 2004. She received her law degree in 2007 from UC Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco.
