As the Deputy Director of Our Children’s Trust, Lou Helmuth elevates the voice of youth to secure the legal right to a stable climate and healthy atmosphere for the benefit of all present and future generations. Helmuth’s career spans law practice, legal education, fundraising and non-profit administration. In law practice, Helmuth represented youth with disabilities from all around the country, relative to their educational needs and also handled a number of environmental and land use matters on behalf of citizens groups. He is a licensed California lawyer, and has tried multiple cases in the U.S. District Courts, argued cases before the U.S. Courts of Appeal, served in legal education and on non-profit boards of directors. At Our Children's Trust, Helmuth contributes to legal strategies, organizational and program development, fundraising and marketing.

Helmuth graduated with a J.D. from Vermont Law School and a B.A. from Boston College.
