Margaret Wang-Aghania is the co-founder and Executive Director of SubjectToClimate, a nonprofit organization that has reached close to 1 million site visitors to empower all educators to easily and effectively teach about climate change, justice, and action. As a former high school teacher of economics, business & management, entrepreneurship, and history, she saw firsthand how climate education could offer students relevant and meaningful learning experiences while engaging them in the defining issue of our time: climate change. Motivated by this realization, she pursued an M.Ed. in International Education Policy at the Harvard Graduate School of Education to further explore the transformative potential of climate education. While at Harvard, Margaret worked with Professor Fernando Reimers to author and edit several books on education reform and climate change education. She also partnered with the Harvard Library and the Office for Sustainability to design and lead trainings that equipped staff members to become climate educators.
Beyond academia, Wang-Aghania served as a product manager at an EdTech learning management startup, where she focused on building tools to support educators. Prior to that, she co-founded Novustack (also known as Innovate for Africa), an initiative that trained, placed, and supported cohorts of Nigerian, Kenyan, and Ugandan graduates in innovative startups, helping to strengthen the African innovation ecosystem.
She received her teaching certification at Princeton University. Outside of work, Wang-Aghania is an avid ultramarathon and marathon runner and triathlete.
