Founding Executive Editor, Heatmap

Robinson Meyer is the founding executive editor of Heatmap News, an award-winning media company covering decarbonization and the energy transition, and the host of "Shift Key," Heatmap's podcast about energy and climate. He is also a contributing Opinion writer at The New York Times.

Meyer was named to Bloomberg Businessweek's "Bloomberg 50" in 2020, a list of the people who changed or defined global business, and to Vox's "Future Perfect 50" in 2023, which recognizes thinkers, activists, and scholars working on solutions to the world's biggest problems. He also won the American Society of Magazine Editors' NEXT Award in 2021.

Previously, Meyer was a staff writer at The Atlantic, where he covered climate change, technology, and science, and cofounded "Planet," the magazine's climate section. In March 2020, he cofounded the COVID Tracking Project, an award-winning volunteer effort that collected and published the most complete COVID-19 data for U.S. states and territories. The project’s data was used by two presidential administrations and cited in more than 1,000 academic papers. Meyer lives in New York City.
