Wes Ingwersen

Lead, Cornerstone Sustainability Data Initiative

Wes Ingwersen is a Research Engineer at Stanford University's Sustainable Solutions Lab and the Technical Director of the Cornerstone Sustainability Data Initiative. He works in the field of industrial ecology with expertise in life cycle assessment (LCA) , environmental input-output modeling, and environmental software development. He has made recognized contributions to the field in the areas of product life cycle assessment comparability, nomenclature, data quality assessment, and through the development of open source tools for industrial ecology modeling.

Ingwersen was a civil servant in the US EPA's Office of Research and Development from 2010-2025. He led development of the USEEIO model at EPA from 2015-2025. Ingwersen helped establish the Technical Working Group for the Federal LCA Commons initiative and the United National Environmental Program's Global Network of LCA databases (GLAD). He has served as a technical expert on LCA for the US State Department’s Director of Environmental Policy, the American Center for Life Cycle Assessment, the US Green Building Council, and five EPA offices.

Ingwersen earned a B.A. from Georgetown University and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Florida.
